Janitors
The Janitors

The Janitors are a Swedish psychedelic noise rock band, masters in producing some fine full-on aural assault that will scrape the back of your skull, or, as they they like to call it themselves, “Evil shoegaze boogie woogie”. Based in Stockholm and signed to excellent UK psych label Cardinal Fuzz Records and Danish Bad Afro Records, The Janitors appear as an XL proportioned five-piece live.

What characterizes The Janitors is a mixture of heavily distorted and psychedelic noise sounds, together with a repetitive monotonous bassline and drums that propel the dark, murky and most evil psychedelia. They have often been compared to early The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3 and Loop but they twist and turn their roots into a much more evil and disturbing drone.

It has been over 2 years since we last heard from The Janitors. Their last release “Evil Doings Of An Evil Kind” told tales of the emerging evil in politics and the rise of far right in many European countries – it was a darkness and claustrophobia that The Janitors captured on that release. In the time that has since passed and with evil of the right wing spreading, The Janitors have distilled their fury into the concentrated form of the 7 tracks of barbed wire fuzz presented on their new LP “Horn ur Marken” that will be released by Cardinal Fuzz on April 28th.

Quotes:
“If Nick Cave decided to start a shoegaze band, I think it might sound a little like The Janitors" Sounds better with reverb

"Only those with an interest in the heaviest of heavy psych need apply - this is not music for the faint of heart, but those with a love of evil drone and heavy garage clamor will be totally in their element." The Active listener

Live review from Liverpool Psychfest
On first listen Janitors sound like a psyched up version of Interpol. About halfway through their first song though you realize that they are a hell of a lot more than that.
By the end of the set you realize you have witnessed something rather special. The sea of faces said it all as jaws dropped at the terrifying yet cozy sounds throbbing from
the stage. It was dark, dangerous, sultry and beautiful. Janitors were brilliant and it is easy to see them headlining this very festival in the next few years" Echoes and dust

And something we have to say about the state of the world and our intentions with this new record.

Hey, your favorite Swedish peddlers of heavy drones and fuzzed nightmares are finally back again! Did you miss us?

Since our start in 2004 we have done our best to fight nihilism with fuzz. We think that now we finally got to the point where our music and our Idea of what the world should be could merge.

This record is a statement of sorts. It's a call of arms from our side. It's a tiny piece of protest. Be it against faith in religious misdoings from false self-acclaimed prophets or high almighty untouchable clergy, capitalist selfishness, racist idiocrasy or blunt fascism hidden in ignorance or just plain old racism.

In this world focused on ego stimulation we feel the need to use our small platform to at least induce someone with the courage and inspiration to stand up and take the fight, and hopefully inspire the unveiled masses of non-doers to think for one second, in one moment, that someone needs something more than yourself.

Discard all thoughts of borders, gender, race or origin, we are all the same. Leave this place to our children with the knowledge that you did all you could to help everyone. Don't let greed pollute your mind. Rid your fears. Solidarity will stand.

We made a concept album of sorts about these topics and we hope you listen to it because we are damn proud of it.

Love The janitors
